Children's Catechesis
"'At the heart of catechesis we find, in essence, a Person, the Person of Jesus
of Nazareth, the only Son from the Father. . .who suffered and died for
us and who now, after rising, is living with us forever.' To catechize
is 'to reveal in the Person of Christ the whole of God's eternal design
reaching fulfilment in that Person. . . . Catechesis aims at putting 'people
. . . in communion . . . with Jesus Christ: only he can lead us to the
love of the Father in the Spirit and make us share in the life of the
Holy Trinity.'" Catechism of the Catholic Church, 426.The Goal of Catechesis at Nativity: The goal of all religious instruction is concrete knowlege of, and intimate with, the Triune God, especially as He is revealed in the person of Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Word. The classes for children at Nativity intend to teach the core doctrines of the Catholic Faith - the Trinity, the Incarnation, the Holy Mysteries - and to lead the children into a deeper awareness of how these beliefs should touch every part of their lives. The primary sources for instruction are Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Groups, Teachers, and Schedule: [This information is being revised.] For further information: Contact Fr. Richard Janowicz at (541) 726-7309 or by e-mail. |
